The 2-Day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is a condensed version of the classic 4-day trek, offering a taste of the iconic trail while minimizing the physical demands.
The first day you'll be picked up from your hotel in Cusco and transported to Ollantaytambo, then take a scenic train ride to Kilometer 104, the trailhead. The hike begins, passing through stunning landscapes and visiting archaeological sites like Chachabamba and Wiñay Wayna. Arrive at the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), where you'll get your first breathtaking view of Machu Picchu. Hike down to Aguas Calientes, a charming town at the foot of Machu Picchu, and enjoy a comfortable night in a hotel.
The next day, wake up early and take a bus up to Machu Picchu. Spend 2-3 hours exploring the magnificent citadel with a guided tour, learning about its history and architecture. Enjoy some free time to wander around Machu Picchu at your own pace. Take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes, board the train back to Ollantaytambo, and return to Cusco by private transportation.
The 2-Day Inca Trail features stunning scenery, ancient Inca ruins, diverse flora and fauna, and the incredible Machu Picchu. It's a moderate trek with some uphill and downhill sections. Inclusions typically include transportation, entrance tickets, guided tour, accommodation, and some meals. Exclusions may include Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain climb, additional meals, and tips.
