Day 1: Descent to the Riverside Springs
Route: Arequipa – Cabanaconde – Pallqa.
Highlights: 3AMdeparture from Arequipa. After a scenic drive, begin the descent to Pallqa. Enjoy a unique afternoon soaking in natural hot springs right on the banks of the Colca River, perfect for stargazing in the heart of the canyon.
Accommodation: Rustic riverside lodge in Pallqa.
Day 2: The Power of Huaruro
Route: Llahuar – Llatica – Fure – Huaruro Falls – Fure.
Highlights: A steady climb through the rugged canyon landscape to the remote village of Fure. After dropping our gear, we hike to the majestic Huaruro Falls to witness its power. We return to the quiet, peaceful atmosphere of Fure for the night.
Accommodation: Basic mountain hut in Fure.
Day 3: High Trails to the Oasis
Route: Fure – Malata – Sangalle Oasis.
Highlights: Leave the remote heights of Fure behind as we trek across the canyon slopes, passing through the traditional village of Malata. We descend into the Sangalle Oasis in the afternoon, where the tropical climate and refreshing pools provide the perfect reward.
Accommodation: Oasis Bungalow.
Day 4: The Final Ascent
Route: Sangalle – Cabanaconde – Chivay – Arequipa.
Highlights: The classic pre-dawn ascent to the canyon rim. Enjoy a celebratory breakfast in Cabanaconde before traveling along the valley and soaking in the volcanic hot springs in Yanque on our way back.
