Day 1: Into the Abyss
Route: Arequipa – Condor’s Cross – San Juan de Chuccho – Sangalle. Dearture at 3am
Highlights: Witness the flight of the Andean Condor at Cruz del Condor. Begin the 3-hour descent from the canyon rim to the lush village of San Juan de Chuccho for a local lunch. Continue through the geological wonders of the canyon floor to reach the Sangalle Oasis.
Accommodation: Basic bungalow at the Oasis.
Day 2: The Vertical Ascent
Route: Sangalle – Cabanaconde – Yanque – Arequipa.
Highlights: A challenging 3-hour switchback climb before sunrise to beat the heat. After a rewarding breakfast in Cabanaconde, we travel along the Colca valley and soak in the volcanic hot springs in Yanque before returning to Arequipa.
